CT Healthcare Professionals to File Complaints with DPH
During the covid-19 pandemic, some healthcare professionals are being asked to care for covid positive patients and patients under investigation without proper PPEs like N95 masks. Some employees are being told that surgical masks alone are sufficient, while others are being denied protective coverings entirely.
All hospital employees - the attending nurses, those cleaning the rooms, those delivering food, the caring physicians, etc. - that are being asked to care for covid-19 positive patients or patients under investigation for covid-19 without proper PPEs are encouraged to file a complaint to the Connecticut Department of Public Health immediately. Additionally, please report any violations to your union representative and Local leadership.
OSHA standards guarantees workers' right to refuse to work in situations where danger is imminent and a good-faith effort was made to have the employer resolve the problem.
